Isaiah 40: 28-31 [AMP version]

Do you not know? Have you not heard?

The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth

Does not become tired or grow weary;

There is no searching of His understanding.

He gives strength to the weary,

And to him who has no might He increases power.

Even youths grow weary and tired,

And vigorous young men stumble badly,

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him]

Will gain new strength and renew their power;

They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun];

They will run and not become weary,

They will walk and not grow tired.

I am fascinated by the flight of birds soaring into the sky.

The awesome eagle is known to be the only bird that flies above the storm clouds to avoid the rain, because eagles can fly at an altitude of 10,000 feet above sea level. The picture of a Christian likened to that of an eagle is powerful. As Christians, we are called to live out of our waiting on our God, who is never tired or weary. Our position of waiting, listening and receiving from Him, infuses into us His energy, His strength and fresh power to fly high like an eagle. Eagles move through the landscape by soaring (using air currents to gain altitude), using their wings apparently stronger than planes in the sky!

Eagles have great eyesight, almost 5 times better than humans. As we wait on the Lord, He shows His heavenly perspective into our situations to rise above the daily struggles, duties, stresses to soar into His presence. When tempted to run away from those challenges, God shows you His opportunities, you feel empowered to run into them with a fresh faith, vision and heavenly perspective pumped in by the Holy Spirit.

Like the eagle, we don’t avoid the storm, but the Spirit lets us soar above the storm and rise towards our Sun of Righteousness, Jesus.

Come on, bask in His glory, renewed to face life with His unfailing power and infuse His vision into others, to form a ‘soar of eagles’, building His church.

“If you hang out with chickens, you are gonna cluck, and if you hang out with eagles, then you are gonna fly” – S. Maraboli.

Activity:

Look out into the sky, let the Holy Spirit speak and picture yourself as an eagle pushing higher and higher into the sky.

Call up a Christian/pre-Christian brother or sister and address/ and encourage them prophetically “Hi eagle,…”

Prophetic Focus:

Psalm 103:5

Who satisfies [your] years with good things,

So that [your] youth is renewed like the [soaring] eagle.

God sees your tired and worn-out soul and is calling you today to wait in His presence for the good things He wants to satisfy your spirit with.

Prophesy the verse over your life, putting your name where the symbol [ ] is, that you are renewed in your youthfulness, strengthened with fresh vigour to soar into the skies He is calling you into.

Prayer Focus:

Speak to the Mountains

Pray:

  1. For people in TVC Church and Teesside churches to experience the power of waiting on God, rise up as eagles and run with Christ, amidst ‘MOUNTAINS’.
  2. Prophetically over war inflicted Ukraine and churches in Ukraine/Europe to have wings of strength and vision to be powerful eagles of Christ above the horror, and despair through His love (Romans 5:3-5)
