As I drove through Thornaby one night last month, I saw a bright light in the sky through the windscreen of the car.

Initially, I thought it was just an airplane flying past but when I took a second quick look I realised it was not a red blinking light but instead it flared in the night sky, faded as it moved, then disappeared out of sight.

It was a shooting star. I was ecstatic as I was at the right place just in time to see an amazing sight. When I got home I could not help sharing with my husband the spectacular celestial phenomenon I had witnessed.

Later on I reflected on this experience and I remembered what some of the people who encountered Jesus did afterwards. They were thankful and shared with others how great their experiences were.

Anywhere Jesus showed up he did good things, no wonder he was so popular and he still is because he now dwells in his sons and daughters, you and me.

There are people around us who need an encounter with Jesus. Similarly we may be feeling weary or burning out like that shooting star and we feel we just need a touch from Jesus ourselves.

Prophetic

Psalm 27:1

“The Lord is my light and salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Matthew 5:14-16

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill that cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light to all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men,  that they may see your good works, and glorify your father which is in heaven.”

The sacrifice of Jesus was once for all, by his blood we have been cleansed from all sin and have access to healing, salvation, deliverance, forgiveness, protection and peace.

Just as that light amidst the dark sky caught my attention, and I looked up, we are reminded that His Light overcomes darkness and we look to him for He is our source and sustainer.

He is the eternal Light who never fades or burns out. There is nothing and no one beyond his reach.
