Ruth Head continues our Life in His Name series with a message on The Vine from John 15:1–17.
Jesus uses another of his powerful “I am” statements: “I am the true vine.”
Using a picture that his listeners would have understood, Jesus describes himself as the vine and his followers as the branches. Just as branches need the vine to live and grow, we need to stay connected to Jesus.
Jesus teaches that we cannot live fruitful lives in our own strength.
Instead, as we remain in him, the Father works in our lives, helping us grow and shaping us to become more like Jesus.
“Remain in me, as I also remain in you.”
Jesus teaches that we need him. Just as a branch cannot survive without the vine, we cannot thrive without him.
But when we stay close to him, we can bear lasting fruit, grow in his love and enjoy the privilege of being called his friends.
Watch as we explore what it means to abide in Jesus, trust the Father’s pruning and live a life rooted in him.
