A few weeks back, we took 40 of our teenagers away to Knock Christian centre in the Lake District for a weekend of fun, friendship and encountering the Holy Spirit. From arrival on the Friday night, the program was packed with fun and games and plenty of opportunity to hang with old friends and make new ones, but our heart for this weekend went far beyond fun – we serve a powerful God and were excited to see our teenagers impacted by God for themselves.

As the team prepped for the weekend, sending out kit lists, buying the food and pulling together game resources, God spoke really clearly about his intentions for the weekend. One of our youth leaders was woken in the night by 2 really clear dreams; each time she was taking the youth to an amazing once-in-a-lifetime event and some got wholeheartedly involved straight away and some held back from all there was for them. As a team we prayed for the youth that were going away, that each of them would step in to all God had for them throughout the weekend.

So what were the highlights?

“Definitely Sliding down the hill”

“Sylvia’s Crumble!”

“I loved just worshipping together deeply and seeing some of our youth step up to be part of the worship team. I loved watching them realise that they have a part to play in drawing others towards God in worship.”

“I felt God bring me an overwhelming sense of peace”.

“When we worshipped, it was amazing to look around and see everyone experiencing the Holy Spirit”

“It was so amazing to see so many of our young people putting their hands up and wanting to receive the Holy Spirit”

In everything that we plan, prepare and deliver to our teenagers, we have a real heart to create fun, build friendships and journey together to a place where we all know God a bit more – and this was our exact intention for our weekend away. We played loads of games, had late night bonfire fun and experienced the power of the Holy Spirit together.

So what is next?

Well thankfully it doesn’t stop here! Our youth continue to journey together in their faith through their weekly social gatherings, monthly Relentless worship nights and fortnightly Youth Services – but many of them also go to school together! Do keep praying for our young people – that they will continue to grow in their faith, in their knowledge of the bible and experience of God as they reach out to their friends together.
