TVC Church is a big Church with a big heart for Teesside. We don’t just gather on Sundays and we don’t just meet at The Oakwood. We have a huge number of things that take place across Teesside every week. One of the places where we have an amazing amount of things happening is at ‘The Shack’, our community hub in Ragworth, Stockton.

Let us tell you a little about what goes on…

Regular gatherings

The Shack is a really special place, where members of the local community can pop by for some company, some support and some hope – no matter who they are or what they are facing. Throughout the week, we have a whole range of things happening. Here is a flavour…

Tasty Tuesdays

Every Tuesday, the Shack is open from 10am till 1pm for anybody from our local community to drop by for a bacon butty, a pastry or even just a cuppa and a chat.

We love just getting to know our neighbours and being available as a warm and friendly space.

Allotment Club

We have been really blessed with an Allotment plot right here in Ragworth. It needs a lot of work, but we see it’s potential! Not just for growing vegetables, but as a space where we can work side by side and produce something good together. We know that a chat around a table isn’t for everyone and we love that this space allows our community to come together, be together and be useful.

We meet at the Allotment every Thursday from 9.30am till 1pm – Everyone is welcome!

Community Breakfast

On Friday, we have another opportunity just to get out of the house and get to know one another, but this time over breakfast! From 9.30am, breakfast is served and the cuppas are flowing. Our team are available for a chat and they are always happy to pray if you have any needs.

Raggy 4.12

This is our youth group that meets over at The Shack. It runs from 4.45 until 6pm and is open to those in school years 5 to 9. Those who are in Secondary School also regularly join with The Oakwood Youth for Relentless and other special activities – which we just love!

TOAST

On the first Sunday of each month, we gather for TOAST (Time On A Sunday Together). We meet from 10.30am for breakfast (yes we love our food over the The Shack!) and then we go into a time of exploring faith together though singing, praying, sharing life stories and a short talk. We also have children’s activities – this is a time for families to be together as they experience what following Jesus looks like.

Community Courses

In partnership with the Community Grocery, that we have on site at The Shack, we run different community courses and activities at different points in the year. We have just begun a cooking club, where those who are signed up can come each week and learn to cook a different healthy and affordable meal. They go home at the end of it with a great meal for their family, as well as having spent the afternoon working together and learning new skills.

This year, we have also ran ‘The Wellbeing Journey’, Craft Club and a creative art class. We are also in the middle of an Alpha Course, where people can begin to explore faith and meaning. We have also enjoyed a guys curry night and a girls bingo night, as well as a quiz night that brought the community together.

The Shack is a busy place! Though everything we do, our aim is to share the love and hope that we have found through Jesus with our local community.
