In this Vision Sunday message, Martin Dunkley explores what it means when Jesus tells us to “take heart”.

Through Matthew 9, Mark 6 and John 16, we see Jesus speaking these words into very different situations, bringing forgiveness, healing, courage and peace.

The Greek word used for “take heart” is tharsei, meaning to have courage, be confident or be of good cheer. Whatever we are facing, we are reminded that our confidence is not found in our circumstances, but in who Jesus is.

Jesus does not promise that we will avoid trouble, but He does promise that He is with us in it. He has overcome the world, and because of Him, we can take heart.
