A bush that spontaneously combusted—nothing unusual in the Sinai desert, where temperatures often reach 43 degrees C. But this bush burned…and burned…and burned… And that made it very unusual. So unusual that Moses went to take a closer look.

If Moses hadn’t stopped to look more closely, he would have missed his encounter with God and his greatest adventure in life. And so would we: for there would have been no rescue of Israel from slavery in Egypt, no journey to the Promised Land, no King David, no Jesus, no church – no Christians today. But all those happened because one man took the time to stop, look and question.

What about us? Do we take time to stop and listen to what God might want to say to us and do through us, or are we too busy and too distracted? Stopping and exploring is key for all who want to move forward in their faith.
