“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.”
Psalm 46:1-3 KJV
As I travelled on the A1 a couple of days ago, rain poured from the sky then I looked through the window and I saw a beautiful multicoloured arch that stretched aross the sky.
I was amazed it was not just one rainbow but it was a double rainbow.
For a moment, I wished I could take a closer look, then it started to fade away as the car sped onwards. I was reminded a rainbow is not an object that can be physically approached but an optical illusion caused by refraction of light within droplets of rain in the air.
They became visible when water droplets were viewed from a certain angle relative to the sun, then disappeared as my position changed.
The disposition of our hearts in trusting God during difficult circumstances is key to victory.
In 1 Samuel 30 we see an account of what King David did when he was in a disheartening situation. After the Amalekites raided Ziklag, they burned the city and took the women and children captive.
David’s army seemed to blame him and wanted to stone him.
However David called for the ephod, his priestly apron and enquired from God what he should do.
Further on in the chapter, we see that David obeyed God’s instruction to go after the Amalekites. He got information as to where the Amalekites were and they engaged them in battle and got back all their possession and family.
Prophetic
The Lord compensates his children for every loss. He also promises he will not leave us when we face tough times. He will be with us. He upholds us and we will not be overwhelmed.
He gives beauty for ashes, strength for fear, gladness for mourning, peace and comfort in place of despair.
Activity
Recognise those things that you are concerned or grieved about.
Acknowledge that God is good and he loves you so much that he sent Jesus to bear all the burdens that we have so we do not have to carry them ourselves.
Tell Jesus to take the burden off you. Watch out for any verse of scriptures that stands out to you and declare it over your situation.
Here are some verses:
Isaiah 53:5 – But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. (English Standard Version)
Nahum 1:7 KJV – “The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.”
Psalm 91:2 KJV – I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in him will I trust.
Zephaniah 3:17 KJV – The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
2 Thessalonians 2: 16-17 – Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God, even our Father, which hath loved us and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace , comfort your hearts , and establish you in every good word and work.
Prayer:
Dear God, help me to know the greatness of your Love.
When my heart is feeling overwhelmed, help me see the glorious Life your grace provides, and draw strength from you.
Help me to experience the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ instead of the pain, fears and doubts that seem to cloud my mind.
Pray for friends and family who are going through tough times, pray that they will experience God’s powerful touch that brings healing, wholeness, salvation, deliverance, comfort, peace, joy, hope in their circumstances.
Pray the Spirit of God gives you wisdom and revelation of what God’s will is at all times and seasons and bring you into alignment with his plans in Jesus name, amen.
