This Christmas, we are excited to bring to you a new Christmas feature that is for the community – but also built by the community!

From Friday 25th November, our Christmas Trail will be open every Friday and Saturday evening from 4pm until 7pm.

Just inside The Oakwood Centre Woods, you will find a magical Christmas trail for all the family to enjoy.  Grab your goodie bag and take a winter wander through our fairy light lit woodland trail and discover the nativity story anew.

Though we have designed this trail to be accessible by children, it is open to everyone – so grab your wellies, wrap up warm and come and experience Christmas.

Making the Trail

Our trail is already generating some excitement amongst local families, as they look for something to do together as a family, that encompasses the true meaning of Christmas – but is also affordable! But today, we wanted to give you a sneak peek around the trail and to say a huge thank you to the many men, women and children who have pulled together to create this amazing community experience.

Heading up this project is Nicola Ferguson, our Children and Families outreach worker. But she has most certainly not been working alone. Nic has pulled together teams of Three13 learners, volunteers from TVC Church and their friends and we even have contributions from the children at Durham Lane Primary School! From clearing paths to draping lights to decorating angels – we are thrilled to have such a big-hearted community, who are all playing their part in creating something special this Christmas.

We can’t wait for the big switch on next week – but we are even more excited to see the faces of the children light up as they journey around the trail and discover the Christmas story.

We want to say a huge thank you again to everybody who has played a part in making this trail a reality. If you have not played a part yet – do not fear! We would love to have you on the team. When the trail opens next week, we will need people who are full of the spirit of Christmas to come and help us to host this trail. If you can smile, give out bags, make hot chocolate or warm a mince pie – then we would love to hear from you!

Email: Sarah.glasby@tvcchurch.org.uk to let us know when you can make it.

Let’s all give a little this Christmas and spread the joy of the season.
