Then I thought, ‘To this I will appeal: the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand. I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.’ (Psalm 77:10-12)
The Psalmist wrote Psalm 77 in a time of considerable distress, weariness and anxiety, when nothing seemed to be going right for him. And now even God seemed far away and his relationship with him not at all what it had been in the past. But then he suddenly realised what he needed to do: to remind himself of the many times in the past when God had stretched out his arm, both for him personally and for God’s people. And from that, to be provoked to ask God to stretch out his arm once again. God did it before. He can do it again.
Where do you need to look back and remember some of the great things God has done for you? And what should that be provoking you to reach out for again?
ME – List some of the great things God has done for you in the past. Thank him and let it provoke you to reach out to him for even more.
US – Today we are praying for another one of our three focuses: Growth. Pray that God continues to grow our church numerically and spiritually.
OTHERS – Pray for other Teesside churches. Many are experiencing similar growth to us. Pray that it continues.
