Alpha starts this September. It’s a great chance to invite someone to explore life and faith in a warm and welcoming space. Maybe there’s someone you know who’s asking questions or just open to thinking about what really matters.

What is Alpha?

Alpha is a place to talk about life, faith and meaning. It’s honest, open and relaxed. There’s no pressure, and no question is off limits. You don’t need to know anything about church or religion. Just come as you are.

Lots of people are unsure what to expect at first, but many say it helped them think about big questions in a new way. One of our recent Alpha guests, Shaine, explained: “I was invited to Alpha by a friend and I’m so glad I said yes. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was really surprised by how welcoming and open everyone at TVC Church was. From the first night, I felt accepted and comfortable asking any questions I had about faith. There was no pressure at all. It’s honestly the most welcoming place I’ve ever been. Since then, my daily routine has completely changed. I read the Bible and pray every day now. The best part has been the friendships and connections I’ve made. I couldn’t recommend Alpha more. It’s changed the way I see everything.”

We’re starting with an intro evening on Wednesday, 17 September, at 7:30pm at The Oakwood. There’ll be pizza, live music, a short story from someone who’s done Alpha, and a chance to see what it’s like. You’re not signing up for anything. Just come and see.

What happens next

If you enjoy the intro evening, we really want you to keep coming! The course starts the following Wednesday, 24 September, at the same time and place.

Each week, we’ll watch a short film on a different topic and then discuss it in small groups. You can join in or just listen. Either way, you’ll be part of a group that’s friendly, welcoming and open.

We’d love to see as many people as possible there. And we’d love you to think about who you could bring along with you.
