About the role

This new position will allow us to extend our coffee shop’s opening to include Sundays.

As a coffee shop supervisor, you’ll be part of a fantastic team working in a friendly, supportive environment. You’ll meet wonderful people every day, and your contribution will be truly valued. We are looking for team member to work on a part-time basis including a Sunday (initially 12 hours per week). The role offers a salary of £13–£15 per hour, depending on experience.

Job description

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing daily operations of the coffee shop during church services, events, and regular hours.
  • Preparing and presenting drinks and food to a high standard.
  • Managing inventory and placing supply orders in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Opening and closing the coffee shop, including cash handling and reporting.
  • Supervising a team of volunteers and part-time staff.
  • Supporting all team members to follow health, hygiene, and customer service protocols.
  • Creating a warm, inclusive, and welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
  • Building relationships with regular visitors and newcomers, making everyone feel known and valued.
  • Handling any customer concerns or complaints with grace and professionalism.

Person specification

Essential:

  • Experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Barista experience and confidence in preparing a variety of hot drinks.
  • Previous experience supervising or managing a team.
  • A warm, approachable manner with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness and availability to work on Sundays.
  • Comfortable working within a church-based environment and community-focused culture.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a church, charity, or community café setting.
  • Food hygiene certification (or willingness to undertake training).
  • A passion for creativity and contributing new ideas.
