Over the past 6 months, we have been overjoyed to see such a huge increase in numbers in our Sunday morning ‘Illuminate’ children’s groups. As a result, we now have 2 preschool groups and 2 primary age groups, which has meant the launch of ‘Neon’ – for children in Years 4,5 & 6.

Beth Johnson brings us an update on the exciting things that have been happening in Neon over the past few weeks…

“In Neon, we have been journeying through the book of Nehemiah, learning lots along the way, with a whole lot of fun and games thrown in.

Each week, after we look at the main teaching point (the one thing we’d love the kids to grasp about the passage) we spend some time in worship to God. This can look different each time, we may write or draw our responses, we may just spend time in his presence with a worship song on. During these times, God has never failed to show up!

As we chat with the children afterwards, it is clear that they have encountered God. They know their prayers to Him have been heard, because he’s answered them within minutes. Conversations have opened about what the children have been facing in life, and even about huge sadnesses they’ve felt at this very young age.

Last Sunday, our topic was repentance, and after discussing all that it meant, we moved onto our worship section. As the children quietly listened to the worship song, we felt prompted to stay in that moment and not rush to the next game. We gave the children the opportunity to respond to Jesus, to ask for His forgiveness and know that Jesus would be with them in their lives. Twelve responded!

Twelve children said Yes to Jesus!

Yes to getting to know our heavenly father and a life lived with him!”
