Dear TVC Church
Last night our Prime Minister issued a statement in which he said “now is the time for everyone to stop non-essential contact with others”. He encouraged people to work from home and to avoid all social venues. He also said from this weekend those with the most serious health conditions and therefore at increased risk should be shielded from social contact for around 12 weeks.
These are clearly unprecedented times that I believe require unprecedented response.
The first response we are making as a church is to respect and comply with what the government is requesting. We are therefore cancelling all gatherings within our TVC Church community. Previously this had just involved larger meetings such as our Sunday Service but we are now extending it to include every gathering of every size including all our community groups.
We have also asked our church staff who are able to work from home to do so. In addition, we have encouraged those staff who have health issues that put them at increased risk to take the advice to socially shield themselves for the next 12 weeks. The staff of Three13, who are currently delivering contracts, are continuing to work in the centre at this stage.
The second response we are making is calling the church to fast and pray together. Every Wednesday we will lift this Coronavirus crisis and our nation to the Lord. We will pray that Gods plan of mercy, grace and salvation overtake the enemies destructive intentions. More details will follow.
While Satan is clearly wanting to bring destruction and fear, I continue to believe God is right with us in the midst of this challenging time. Moreover, scripture constantly reminds us that during such times our God is able to ultimately work everything in conformity with the purpose of his will (Ephesians 1:11). So I find myself asking God the question “what is your purpose and will for TVC Church at this time – because I know you have one and I know it will ultimately be good?”.
Whatever God’s plan one thing is clear…. church will need to look radically different.
So, we are working hard on the ability to put systems in place to ensure no one feels on their own or isolated. We will use telephone, text, WhatsApp, video calls and social media to make sure everyone is communicated with and supported to the best of our ability. We are setting up a new website which can be used as a resource base, to ensure you remain encouraged and strengthened in your faith.
We will make sure there is regular live broadcasting on each Sunday Mornings @ 10:30 am. This Sunday 22nd March will be entitled “Finding God in a time of Shaking”. This will be available through our regular Facebook live stream (www.facebook.com/tvcchurch). It is possible to view this page without a Facebook account. After the service the video will be posted online via our website as usual.
Over the next few days we will communicate further with you and give you more details on how you can stay plugged in and connected with our TVC Church family.
With prayers and affection
Martin Dunkley (on behalf of TVCC leadership team)
